So I got motivated by this thread and upgraded to 2.2 last night haha, used the Kies software to update to an official Samsung JP5 Froyo firmware. Also got root access and speedmod running pretty well so far! Scored 976 in quadrant

Gingerbread is supposed to be released soon, if not all ready. So if you're going to root your phone you may as well wait for that.
I'm running eclair, and I've done a direct comparison between fresh installs of eclair and froyo, and couldn't really tell fuck all difference (not enough to worry about anyway).

Well it's been a week and I've already upgraded to another firmware haha, now running a JPU firmware from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091

This ROM is lightning fast, gets 1496 in Quadrant.

That wasn't a U-turn! It was two consecutive right hand turns.

I have a samsung Galaxy as well and installed Kies last night and updated etc etc from there went to the firmware upgrade and it wouldnt let me do the firmware update, it was saying (JP3 version JP4 needed to upgrade or something like that) it had the upgrade button there ready to click but it wasnt highlighted and didnt allow me to upgrade?? what am i doing wrong its really starting effing annoy me.

would someone be kind enough to actually do the upgrade for me from there computer or give a idiots guide to froyo 2.2 upgrade or better if available as i thought it was a simple process?
