Default SERIOUSLY need URGENT Help !!!!!! PC Dual displays

Hey all... 'specially you PC gurus

I've been dobbed in as the "VJ" for a school reunion this Saturday18/12/2010, and desperately need a working solution to a dual display problem. At the venue today I hooked up my desktop to the in situ projector and everything seemed to be running fine at first. However, at completely random times, it appears that the projector re-undergoes an "auto config" which can take up to 3 mins to complete, disrupting videos which are showing and even sometimes causing WMP to crash. At the time, both displays will be black most of the time, but will briefly show normal display several times until the "config" by the projector completes. This is accompanied by several beeps which are similar to USB connect/disconnects and coincide with either screen flickers or brief returns to the display. It will also go into "auto config" mode for any applied changes in Nvidia control panel. I have hot-disconnected the projector and after a few more beeps and screen flickers, the PC monitor returns to normal desktop.

Once things settle down, I have been able to successfully play a couple of vids with good res and correct ratios, and all goes well until the projector randomly decides that it's time to reconfigure for no obvious reason .

I rarely have an issue with PCs that I can't troubleshoot my way out of, but this one's got me stumped & if I don't get it happening sometime REAL soon, I'm toast .

Here is the setup:

Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR
Quad core Q6600, standard clock
Corsair 4GB (3GB usable) DDR3
Gigabyte GT240 single with DVI, VGA & HDMI out
Win 7 Ultimate 32bit
Thermaltake water cooled with dynamic monitoring, never goes over 37C/100F

Display1: Viewsonic VG1930wm 19" widescreen, native res 1440x900 on GT240 DVI

Display2: Epson Projector (no further details known), native res 1024x768 on GT240 VGA

Would very much appreciate useful advice, I have only one opportunity to get it happening in a 2 hour window on 18/12/2010, just before the reunion starts. So basically half a day from time of this post, and I really need to get this right... and the sooner the better. From midday onwards I'll have this thread open on my mobile while I continue to attempt a solution at the venue with the above setup, so if anyone has some useful advice it will be most welcome.

Cheers all

I have a similar issue with a second monitor resetting the resolution at work. I'm running Win 7 64 bit on the machine. I spoke with the IT guru there and it was suggested that Windows has a small bug with this stuff. He suggested running both screens at the same resolution. Now I cant do that as I have a wide screen and then a std 4:3 screen but it might be worth a shot for you. GL.

Drop the Projector Res.

We get that with our Epson WIFI Projector here on either Wifi or VGA.

Dropping the Res to 800X600 fixes it.

Teejay: Nah, the projector works flawlessly for everyone that has set up at the same venue. Only difference being that ppl mainly use lappies to hook up. I'll have one on standby.

Bob: Yeh, tried that but same result unfortunately.

Dan: Don't know of any way to change settings on the projector itself... if you know how to & it's simple enough on the Epson you're familiar with, would appreciate if you could throw a txt my way on 0414706900. I'm about to logoff on this PC as it is the one I'll be using so here's hoping.
EDIT: Have found out that I may be able to change the projector res through the PC display settings... will try that.

Cheers guys.

+1 try different resolution on projector.

You can get this in the display properties box, by right clicking the desktop
