Joe (BALLSAC) pointed me in the direction of this thread. Having a read through now there are quite a few misconceptions about PV systems.

Also quite surprised at the cost of some of these systems.

Really for a high-quality 3kW system with Canadian Solar panels (250W) and either a Sunny Boy SMA or Aurora 3kW inverter, you shouldn't be paying any more than $8,500 fully installed.

If you're only getting 190W panels, $7,500 fully installed is the price you should be aiming for (even with either of those two inverters).

This isn't designed as a commercial post, but obviously I work in the industry and those are the prices we are able to do. I don't like seeing people get ripped off in the car scene...

Pretty happy to answer any questions anyone might have regarding the PV systems.

Quick one... does anyone know if the rebate is for the address or the applicant?

I will be moving into a house with solar panels already installed but its only 1.5kw and I was wanting to upgrade it to the 3kw system.

Interesting Brockas,

Could you perhaps point us in the right direction in terms of what installer to use, what i should pay and what inverter to use for a 1.5kw system? i believe all inverters have to be installed inside (garadge) so what's a non noisy system?

AFAIK you can only claim rebate once per address, any upgrades/extra panels cannot be claimed. That's why it's better to get the best system you can afford the first time round
