Stopped to help out an aboriginal family who was driving a SS VT back from Broome with a broken fan belt and what looked to be a cooked LS1. Puddles of oil and smoke. Doesn't get much more Aussie day than that. Hope they made it home OK.

I thought the fireworks were ok, but everything else was shit making the whole feeling quite shit.

i.e. the music for them was terrible and not uplifting. Also I would have thought Australia Day Fireworks would have Australian music...

We were down the Berwick Street end of the South Perth foreshore. 16 toilets to cater for all the 1000's of people there. Unisex too, so no quick mens line either. A good 30 minute queue to then stand in a dark urine soaked plastic box. Ugh.

No where to buy food or drink. Not a single stall, water fountain or anything could be found. I was hoping for a coffee/hotdog/glowstick stand but no, that might cause anti-social behaviour.

Parking could be made so easy, but all this crap that you can't enter South Perth without 17 forms of ID just means the parking gets moved a suburb back. The foreshore area that we were in was 3/4 empty. They could have easily roped off the back section for parking - have a gold coin donation to a charity too. Instead everyone parked a bit further back and then had to walk past all the empty parking bays becuase people aren't allowed there.

Maybe I just went to the wrong spot!
