Hi all,

I'm still new to Perth and Carlisle has sort of caught my attention in terms of affordability compared to NOR, and living in the train station eg Oats and Carlisle station.

Can anybody give my a run down of the area, whethers its good area ? safe to walk around in etc.

I currently live in Turt hill and it to me also feels like a nice area and is safe.

i drive through the area every day, lathlain/carlisle is probably one of the most conveinient areas in perth to live in. there are few interesting locals, but in a few years i'm sure they will move out when the rent is high enough!

i work in vic park, its fine during the day just dont be walking to streets in groups at night and you'll be Fine.

I live on bank street.. it's the Bronx. I've been robbed, and had my car broken into. Friends cars on the street have Bren vandalized.. Just don't keep anything valuable in your car. I run sometimes.. Usually fast.

The train station is renowned for muggings and bashings, quite a few international students have been attacked and all those attacks have been on the news and in the paper etc.

Other than that it's like any other area that has crime, so as long as the place your moving to is secure and you dont go walking around at night or get the train late at night you should be fine.

A mates dad lives across the road from Oats St station. He has had 3 cars stolen from his front yard over the past 10 years, had people banging on his door trying to get in, broken into a few times and at least once had someone snap a turd on his driveway.

During the day its not too bad but fucked if I would be out and about after dark.

Thanks for the info Guys, hmm mugging and bashing on the news.I do watch the news quite a bit since being here and haven't see it on tv yet. But i'll take ya word for it. I only hear northbridge and shooting for now.

@mitchwnz I was look at a place at Carnarvon Street like 1 street away from banks. what do you mean by "I run sometimes.. Usually fast." exactly from the station ? to the car ? that don't sound good

Definitely was on the news a few times, the whole Armadale train line from VicPark station onwards is dodgey.
