I'm part way through a commercial helicopter liscence, probably changing to private though. Youll be looking at about $420/hr, so about $45k in total for a commercial and about $25k for a private liscence. Probably around $18k if youre looking to get your private fixed wing liscence. Choppers require 3 take off and landings every 3 months as far as i can remember, in order to keep your liscence up to date.
4 or so of the commercial liscence exams are common to both fixed and rotary wing aircraft (Air law, aircraft systems, BAK etc.). Private is an easy 2 exams so you can see which one is probably the most fun :P
West Australian Aviation College (WAAC) are pretty good and helpful, Craig Petersen is the person you'd want to speak to about the rotary wing stuff or Peter at HeliWest. PM me if youre interested in the rotary wing liscence, i can give you all the details.
Best of luck ![Big Grin](http://www.perth-wrx.com/vb/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
