Solar and roller shutter advice
Looking at roller shutters for the bedroom to kill some noise and block light so the mrs can sleep.
How much light do they really block? Every man and his dog does them. Who are the best to go to? Anything I should know about them? Also thinking if I'm going to make some improvements I might look at some solar panels. Who's the best for these? What's the real story with price on what you feed back to the grid? Synergy say 7c per kw some installers are claiming 42c. Which panels and inverters are the brands to stay away from?

My mate is part owner of Half Price Shutter's they are having 40% off at the moment. Good quality and service is good too. My inlaws got some done with the auto up down feature instead of manual.
100% of light is blocked.

roller shutters- good for keeping out heat, noise and light. get the power operated version not the handle type. light blocking not complete as there will be leaks at the bottom edge and sides depending on the window recess shape. No one will be kept awake by light even during the day. You would have curtains or blinds as well.
buy-back tariff- there are two subsidy schemes adding up to 47c per kWh. stops after (about) 10 years. |

Need the black digital meter to get the 47c.
The older analog email meters(starting in 4-10am, 15m, 15d) and newer white ones(02000) dont display power being put back into the grid so you wont get the 47c. Shutters... So long as you dont get ozshut

my room at my parents place had a rollershutter which blocked 100% light and around 50% noise. Great for sleeping in after a hard nights clubbing. Could sleep the whole day and have no idea what time it is
there is already a huge thread about solar PV panels. I signed up with Paul (Brockas) for a 3kw system but still waiting for install

Hey Matt, there is another thread about roller shutters as well. I got them about 12 months ago, make sure you get a couple of quotes and if you are a RAC member get them to quote garunteed they will be the cheapest. I did that and got half price to match RAC.
The sales people are arseholes and will try to rip you blind.....the price started at over 6k for 2 oversize windows and ended up paying 2,900 for memory. Your more than welcome to come and have a look at them, and see your old beast if you want. Pm me if you keen. Cheers Luke
