Awesome Watches

Ok, so its coming up to my birthday ( sunday infact) & I've decided i want to get a kickass watch/timepiece.

Im looking to spend around the $500-$700 mark.
Im aiming for something upmarket ie "not worn everyday" type of watch.

just wondering if anyone has done this and found any awesome deals/watches on the net or in stores locally.

typically i prefer metal band cos leather straps seem kinky, wierd & never last.

Cheers in Advance
Dave

With that sort of budget you might just be able to get a non-chronograph longines with a steel band. I have one as my daily wear watch it's great for what it cost.

Tissot are also ok and u will get a nice one within your budget. So much to choose from. Retail you should be able to negotiate at least 15% off...will be cheaper online but watch for fakes.

There is a great thread about this on PSB...

Master D 13-05-2011 10:12 PM

yeah im just flicking through the tissot website now...
i really like the T-race model but i loathe the rubber straps

Irish wristwatch say it three times fast

teejay 13-05-2011 10:17 PM

If you said 5000-7000 then it would be awesome watches..

Not being rude, or a smart ass but your budget gets you ok, or nice.

Master D 13-05-2011 10:20 PM

fair enough..... if i had 5g... wouldn't spend it on a watch....
not anyway baller spec enough

Really? You're paying for function not diamond encrusted bling. You can get something very nice for what he's looking to spend.

Its not like the extra 0's are going to tell the time any better then any other watch on the market.

axle 13-05-2011 10:24 PM

Agreed on Tissot watches. I have one and love it. Really need to head into a shop and have a look. Always look different on the net.

Master D 13-05-2011 10:26 PM

just found a dealer for them in joondalup.... will go check them out tomorrow...

see if they are as pretty in real life as they are on screen

axle 13-05-2011 10:28 PM

This one is mine. It's understated which I like.

catcha 13-05-2011 10:28 PM

tag heuer is a good mid range watch owned mine for 11 years best watch ever cause i'm pretty careless and often accidently bump it against things...

DanFranko 13-05-2011 10:32 PM

You can certainly get a nice swiss made watch for under 1k.

Teejay is right...obviously as with most things the more you spend then you will have access to premier brands...but you are largely paying for branding and u will be pissed the second u scratch it!

Personally I prefer to wear my simple plain watch than my chronograph...especially on my skinny wrists :P

I'm really happy for you and I've let you finish but it's a watch not the definitive answer to existence.

DanFranko 13-05-2011 10:48 PM

Master D check out Mazzuchellis as they defn have 15% (min) off at the moment. Also saw that David jones are having a sale atm...was good discounts there too!

Nice its a good time to buy a watch now with exchange rates Master D are you heading overseas anytime soon eg Singapore....... what you pay for a Tissot here you can probably come very close to a TAG in Singapore or at least overseas

That's a sweet watch...vintage military style is awesome. I really want to get an old omega military seamaster from the 1940's.

link please?
I have a Seiko Chronograph Titanium. I picked it up when I was in Dubai in 2004, around mid-hichschool. AU$250. Love Dubai.
Like any watch, pics don't do it justice. Men's Watches - Seiko Mens **TITANIUM**Greyhound**007** Chrono...Tachymeter..SND419P1 was sold for R2,195.00 on 2 Jan at 20:00 by WATCHES 24 SEVEN in Bronkhorstspruit (ID:10517111)
It certainly is a cheaper watch, but for now I think t's suited me well. Sporty and understated, like me ;) Looks the sex. Unlike me :(
If it makes ya happy, price isn't too important.
Having said that , PM [REXXXED] for info on a beautiful Seiko he picked up recently for under $1k.
Remember that an AU$700 budget in Australia will stretch a lot further when buying online from overseas...

It is a 50mm so you need to be a biggish person to wear it easily.

I am also a fan of Bell Ross, I have one of these powered by China's finest forgery artists

I got a nice Ceramic Armani watch that was $750 in stores in Perth for $350 from Amazon.com delivered via hopshopgo.com, you can get any semi decent watches from Amazon for about 50% of the price you'd pay here

I picked up my Seiko on eBay Hong Kong, hasn't lost a minute in over 4 yrs, I took it to a Seiko dealer to have the band adjusted & definitely genuine & my daughter picked up a good brand one for her bf from eBay US.

Rossco 14-05-2011 03:40 AM

I have had a Citizen Chronograph Eco-Drive since 2000 and still going strong. I recently upgraded and picked up this one below last week  Mind you, it's a bit more than your budget but I'm just stoked to get it.
My citizen cost $600-$700 when I got it.

Is always a good site. Couldn't say they are all originals tho. Also watch the min buy and need to pick and choose the trusted suppliers.
Also good for "group buys" of auto products :p

I've been using Seiko as my daily/work timepieces for over 30 years now and I've never had any issues with them. This is my current work watch Seiko Velatura 100m Mens Alarm Chronograph SNAA91 SNAA91P SNAA91P1 watch - wrist watches, Seiko. The one thing that I recommend you do with a battery powered watch is to replace the battery every 18mths max, even though the manufactuer states a 3yr battery life, as the battery can start to leak & cause corrosion in the watch.
