The job of the Aussie Captain is to do exactly that, state the obvious. Actually it's the job of every sportsman.

Loving watching Tendulkar play his natural game. His front foot stroke play is superb! Looking forward to Marsh making a mends for his first innings hiccup...

And since when we're the players involved in the umpiring of the game??? The way the drs is being applied is stupid

There is no DRS in this game. If you mean, the fact that Tendulka, Laxman, Dravvid etc leaned on the Indian Cricket Board and told them to say they didn't want to use it then, yes, I agree. However, if they don't want to use it, and teams playing them are also happy not to use it, then I don't see the drama. It's just like playing cricket 5 - 7 years ago. I think the DRS system is very good though, and should be used. It's only a matter of time before the ICC says its mandatory. Might have to wait until Indian cricket isn't such a powerful force!

What I was talking about is the way players have a say in how the game is umpired, the use or not of drs, Back in the day the Players just remained silent.....ish and accepted the decision.the drs is for the umpires not for the players.

nah I like how the players can review the decision. We've seen the decision changed both to actually say they are out when not given, or not out when given. I think with the technology in today's game, it's more than ok! They check a try in Rugby to see if the ball was grounded correctly. Replays etc are part of the game these days. Not many 'traditional' games not using it. Soccer and AFL about the only ones.
And lol at 'silent-ish' did you watch the tea break highlights game yesterday from the 81 Aus v India test. The player had to be escorted from the ground after being given out! haha |
