I was hoping one of the IT / MP3 fiends could help.

My music collection is very expansive (nigh on 1 Tb). Over the years I have had duplicates turn up due to some "drag and drop" copy stuff ups with some duplicated albums, some are same songs on multiple albums.

Does anyone have a preferably MP3/ACC search specific software that could help SORT out this mess.

If I do a straight duplicate file (MD5 hash) search I have currently 4500 duplicate files at approx (10 Gb). They're not ALL doubled up files - some are the same song on two different albums. I want to keep albums complete but delete other duplicates.

I've got another 1.5 Gb of DJ/electronica tracks to add to the collection but want to sort this first before I add more.

Any ideas, suggestions, or help?

I've used Duplicate Cleaner to good effect before, another good one is Beyond Compare.

Duplicate Cleaner is free, Beyond Compare is good for 30 days of use for eval - not thirty consecutive days, 30 days of use.

If you still have issues after this - you should press the delete key more often

I spent ages trying to do this a while ago...It is a bit of a nightmare.
In the end I gave up and just delete duplicates when I come across them.

Duplicate cleaner it was. Worked out the logic flow diagram - almost done.

Was good when I found the "exclude this folder" option. Excluded the Top 500 album folder and say 80% of the duplicates were there.

Still have a bit to search and destroy but looking much better.

Amazing that I have 4000+ albums, all in lossless codecs, with another 6000 odd to add.
