Market Research - Help me out gents

Who here holidays in Bali?

Now, if you were on holidays in Bali & had the opportunity to run timed laps in proper Karts (current model Arrow racing chassis') on a well maintained Kart track would you be interested?

What if i said that the lap times would be displayed live (Transponder system)?

What if i said it would happen under lights after dark in the dry season (cooler)?

What if I said there would be 10 x restricted 100cc (Kids) & 10 x unrestricted 100cc J race karts - 18hp 2 stroke (Adults)?

What if 15 minute sessions were only $25 for the j motored karts?

Helmet, race suit & neck brace all supplied.

Business owned & run by Aussies (on site).

Track length approx 1km - main straight 250 metres

Comments & thoughts appreciated please guys (Poll is multiple choice too)

FYI: The Unrestricted karts are capable of 150 kph, the restricted karts will top out at 70 kph.

Jordiee 08-07-2012 10:11 PM

i've been 4 times, i'd be super keen

teejay 08-07-2012 10:27 PM

Have this in place by end of August thanks

XT43 08-07-2012 10:34 PM

All sounds great but the only problem I can see is getting fuktards behind the wheel of a cart at 150kph. It would only take one to fuck it for everyone. Add that to the fact that if the two seaters are to entice a dad / son scenario that makes the above problem worse, even if it's putting around with the restricted.
/ level headed father of two input.

mARC 08-07-2012 10:40 PM

Not a frequent flyer but would definitely check this out if I was there.

RoughStilin 08-07-2012 10:59 PM

As Burke has already touched on I think... Fucktards. Mandatory breatho before getting into the kart?

Rossco 08-07-2012 11:07 PM

I hear you gents, it won't be a free for all - If your visibly impaired you won't get into a kart.

restricted run with other restricted karts & two seaters.

Unrestricted run alone.

The set up will be similar to the karts in Pattaya.

Shitty vid of Pattaya but you get the idea:

(Embedding refuses to work so here the youtube link)

Pimpreza 09-07-2012 12:04 AM

Pattaya would be much better, I'll be living a couple of hours away ;) Is that the track on the main drag down past Kata with the paint balling etc in the same complex?

baylee 09-07-2012 06:21 AM

Love the idea.
As mentioned by others, my biggest concern would be the same as setting up right here in bogan ville..
Lots of em travel to Bali, the insurance piece would scare me as an owner/operator of this establiment.. Not only the fuxktard factor, but also the ill-equipped insigiduals to handle such power to weight ratio..

Having said all that rubbish.
Boots packed!!!!

Kato 09-07-2012 08:13 AM

Bali...

Public Liability Insurance...

Do those words go together? :P

I reckon you'd get a lot of people though if the location is good.
Have this in place by end of August thanks
I'll give you an extra month...ready to hand my $25 over by end of September, cheers!

Rossco 09-07-2012 10:10 AM

Indemnity form, same as Thailand (& here if you read the fine Print at any of the kart hire's here).

Perhaps a mandatory single restricted kart session prior to being let loose in the good karts?

mARC 09-07-2012 10:14 AM

Fast carts has an induction before letting everyone loose on the track, so surely the rules would be more relaxed there?

'thinking out loud here', is there any form of license v engine capacity issues?

Kato 09-07-2012 10:22 AM
(& here if you read the fine Print at any of the kart hire's here).
FYI, those disclaimers aren't worth the paper they are written on. Only there to remove a lot of the bullshit claims people put up.

This is under Australian law. I would advise discussions with an Indo lawyer first to ensure you are covered correctly.

XT43 09-07-2012 10:24 AM

Do you need the carts that go 150kph?

Rossco 09-07-2012 10:38 AM

Capable of that speed but like pattaya will probably max around 120 due to main straight length.

Legalities of the power is a non issue, legalities of having this type of hire karts is a non issue.

All aspects of the local law have been investigated (the foundations for this business have been in the works for 2 years now - I'm not doing this alone)

American Dave 09-07-2012 11:31 AM

You have Balinese partner right Rossco ?

Rossco 09-07-2012 02:40 PM

1 Balinese & other Aussie partner.

Pimpreza 09-07-2012 02:46 PM

Go at the end of footy season.......go on, I dare ya.

BLUES 09-07-2012 02:51 PM

Bali > Indonesia > Corruption > You know the rest...

Drewski 09-07-2012 03:38 PM

Going in November for a Bucks party! This would be awesome!

mARC 09-07-2012 06:07 PM

All the best with this venture Rossco.

GTB Liberty 09-07-2012 06:41 PM
Bali > Indonesia > Corruption > You know the rest...
Guess "cost of business".

It obviously can be done otherwise Bali would still be 2-3 jalans near Kuta.

Rossco 09-07-2012 06:43 PM

Cheers for all the comments, but can we please keep this on topic:

Don't bother yourself with the ins & outs of the business side of things - They have been well researched by people who are already involved in multiple businesses in the region.

As far as Fucktards go - 1 chance given - deliberate bumping or dangerous driving = a 2 minute stop & go penalty or your removal from the kart or a ban from returning altogether - dependent on severity of retardedness.

So Back to the Question:

Would you throw a kart around a track in Bali if you had access to a great track with well maintained 'proper' race karts & electronic lap timing for $25 AUD per 15 minute session?

as long as they come in fat bastard spec.

GX-REX 09-07-2012 07:15 PM

Seeing as I don't even have a passport my vote probably doesn't count. If I was to find myself over there though I'd jump at the chance. I have an Arrow AX-5 with a KT100S and when i find time to take it out, it is insane fun. I just wish there were more places to take it out.

I have a 1/2 share in an AX-8 Rotax MAX 125 Tag (electric start)... 28hp @ 14,000 rpm.

Kart vader no....Kart Michelin man here lol!

Yes several karts will feature fatboy seats Fletty.

P.s Mates get laps in the 125 Rotax........ :)

I don't think there was Paint ball there, it's the complex with 3 different tracks 2 black top & 1 dirt kart course - Forgotten the name of the area..... It's where they hold the Thai nationals every year.

Sharpy.au 09-07-2012 08:27 PM

When you say J are you talking about a Yamaha kt100j? Yamaha J 100 Kart Engine

I don't ever see one of these hitting 150? A kt100s will struggle to get this speed let alone a J

Kt100j's struggle with a full size chassis and anyone over 70kg

Other than that sounds awesome, as long as they are well maintained

GTB Liberty 09-07-2012 09:29 PM

I'd go for that cost Rossco.

XT43 09-07-2012 09:39 PM

Yup

Yes, you're correct...I had the Kt100J's & S's ass backward.....

The Kt100j will easily hit 80 with a 90kg driver - albeit taking longer to wind up on the pipe.
The Kt100s will easily do 120 with an average weight adult on board - I was hitting 110 in Pattaya - I weigh 120 kg's.

A lack of grunt won't be an issue.

Just to clarify the quick karts will be KT100-S powered.
The 'slow' karts will be KT100-j's.
Two seaters will be 10hp Briggs & Stratton 4 strokes.

axle 09-07-2012 10:25 PM

Sounds great. Plenty of cheap kt100s getting around if the new Aust national regs come through.

This is a great idea tho.

Rossco 09-07-2012 10:52 PM

Karts & engines will be brand spanking new.

Drewski 10-07-2012 12:29 PM

Any timeline on this? Planning a bucks there end of November!! Will be about 20 of us keen to do something like that!

Rossco 10-07-2012 01:45 PM

12 - 18 months away approximately.

Track & buildings need to built first!

This sounds pretty good than :icon_supe

just remember, amatuers in true sprint karts will go ass around quite regularly so you'll constantly be running out to push start the KT's as they have no clutch

Rossco 10-07-2012 04:33 PM

We'll be using kt100-sec's - electric start & clutched for exactly that reason.

J's will be direct drive (so they do stop if spun) & we'll use a push kart for them.
