Thoughts on a ford focus xr5 looking to get one, have you owned one or heard about them, i want pros and cons.

LSD & engine mounts & tune is the way to go. Ians mate has a silly powered one

I looked at and drove heaps last year and only didn't get one as ford stopped making them.
There is a forum I was trolling for info and didn't hear a lot about failures.
Heaps of mail order parts but not much in the way of work shop support. I couldn't find a XR5 version of Doug.
The 2.5 litre 5 pot sounds great with an exhaust at full noise.

Leather option makes it a 4 seater.

Looks awesome and will be called Focus ST as it is in Europe. Heaps of positive US test drive reviews on YouTube.

cheers guys, done some research and europeans have been using the 5 cylinder setup since the late 70's, good thing with the 5 cylinder is you got valve and piston overlap, well balanced engine.

It's a Volvo motor, the 5cyl.

I've looked at them, but not awd = no deal.

If they bring the ST here, it should be awd like it is in the UK

Can you stretch the budget to grab the RS that's for sale on here?! That would be awesome!!

All you FWD haters, have you actually driven an xr5?
The motor is amazing, and they actually drive and handle extremely well despite being FWD.

They are an awesome car for the money.

Engine note alone is worth the coin, smooth as, great torque.

Since we all need 4wd for the all ice/snow/track work we do.
