Default Property Owners Please take a look

I'm Looking at getting my shot gun and rifle licensed. Does anyone on these forums own or know of someone who owns 1000 + achers of properly who wouldn't mind writing me a letter Allowing me to hunt/ pest control on their property. Chances are I will probably never shoot or hunt on the property seeing as i mainly like to shoot long distance rather than kill.Im a full payijng SSAA memeber, have a police clearence and all the paper work needed to own and shoot

Any info would be great. I don't mind traveling or even supplying a carton/cash per letter.

Thank you

Marti

As a member of SSAA no doubt you already have some firearms or friends with firearms. To get my letter I went door knocking with a mate around the toodjay area asking if we could shoot on the property 3/5properties were more then welcoming and we still visit all 3 monthly. One property owner allows us full access to fire wood, machinery, camping etc. It takes balls to ask as most cockys are a bit stand off ish but it paid off big time for us, can't see why it wouldn't work for you.

*disclaimer: if you show up on someone's property in a wrx and pull out an unlicensed rifle from the boot.... your on your own

I think they can only have so many licensed shooters per property, well it was like that when I got mine in 77.

Just having a big enough property doesn't guarantee you'll be approved for larger calibers anymore. There needs to be something on the property that requires a 308, like camels or something big (and don't put roo's down as you can't shoot them). Goats, foxes and rabbits wont be enough to warrant a 308 if a 243 can do the job... so i was told

You can shoot camels and kangaroos as they are a pest, a 308 can be licensed Aslong as the property is bigger than 1000 achers (open class license). If the property owner states that the shooter is required for pest/varmit control then it's all good. Plus I'll be using it
Mainly for club/long distenxw shooting

Even if you have 1000 acres it still comes down to what you intend to shoot.
If you want a 308 you need a property with pigs, goat, camel, wild horse etc
One of my mates got rejected on 10 000 acres because in that area there was just kangaroos, foxes, rabbits & wild cats reported.

From the knowledge I obtained ~ a year ago it's comes down to what's on the property mainly and not just the size. Just be sure to mention the difficulties with terrain etc hence needing something that can shoot a long distance
