Wanted: Machinist to thread aluminum tubing

As per title; I have 3x 1.5m aluminium tubes with an ODD of 50mm and WT of 1.6mm that I need to join back together pretty sturdily to make a photography boom for a project. Given that the internal diameter is 46.8mm, I don't think I'll be able to find any tubing that fits snuggly inside so my thought was to thread both ends and have some couplers made.

Does anyone on here do that kind of work, or know anyone that does??

I'd just buy a tap at bunnings to put the thread on.

Problem is going to be getting the right sized coupling to go on it. Ensure you can get them first!

Ya that's the issue, the couplers can be steel for all I care but trying to find some with a 50mm ID will be tricky I think. Going to case out Burnings after lunch. I was hoping for a machinist because the could always chuck them on a lathe to get the right size.

Could sleeve the inside and rivet. Use a section of the same size tube, slit lengthways, closing the gap and snug internal fit achieved.

We can do it here at work but it going to be expensive and we don't do cash sales(well I've never done one any ways)

Best to get a small machine shop to do it for you

or those coupling couplings but might be espensive
