Default Laptop repairs

hey guys, i have a laptop that was dropped a about a year and a half ago, and have finally decided to chase up repairs on it coz i need a laptop for djing to run serato. Its a 2000 model toshiba, only a celron 650mhz. Wouldnt be worth much.

The computer turns on so im assuming it still works but the lcd screen is smashed, how much would a replacement screen cost?? can anyone in this industry help me out or give me advice, is it worth fixing?? or would it be cheaper to buy a new laptop??

cheerz in advance.

wayyyy more than what the laptop is worth!

Your only option would be to find a similar model at cashies or somehwere... and do a transplant.

With new laptops costing $900 these days, I wouldnt even waste your time.

yeah thort that mite be the case. i wouldnt mind if the screen cost more the the laptop as long as it was gonna be cheaper then a new one.

All in need is sumething to run serato, doesnt need to be anything special as i have a desktop cpu that i do everything on, laptop will only be used for serato and storing all the music files n thats it.

cheerz for the advice, mite pik up one for 800-900 at big w or sum shit, seen sum reasonable ones in there.

If I spend more than 4 hours fixing it, then you can buy a new acer laptop.

385 is high.

You would want be a specialist of sorts, not a general tech.

I am classed as a systems administrator but I am also assets management so I am not a general tech as such but wouldnt say i am a specialist. Its just what they charge me at.

When i was a sub contractor at BHP they charged me out at $700p/h but mine sites talk in fairy tale money so I doubt that is very high.

anyway getting back to laptops... I may know of an acer travelmate 291lmi going for about $1000 if interested.
