Elcotronics in Myaree is very good at hard-drive rebuilds. They have a proper clean room and control procedures to ensure that nothing extra will impact on the drive. I do not recommend any DIY Hard-Drive rebuilding no matter who or what you are as it only takes a few specs of dust to ruin it.

Out at lunch at the moment so can't get their name, but we used a place south of the river before to recover photos etc off a busted had for our GM's wife. May have actually been Elcotronics mentioned above...ill find their contact details when I get back in the office

Have also used Spectrum Data several times at BHP and DoD. $2000 up is usually the cost and they always get the data back.

Ok just checked my emails, it was Elcotronics that we used. Cost $1950 for retrival of about 500GB of data. Plus you need to provide the USD HDD for the retrieved data to be copied to etc.

Thanks guys - looks like its getting narrowed down to a couple of potential companies.

+1 for Spectrum. Pricey, but specialists at what they do.

Information passed on. Unaware of result or even attempt, however, I'm not surprised with his current commitments. He is doing Peking to Paris rally in a couple of months. http:/Peking to Paris 2013 |

Hard drive was eventually recovered with only 1000 odd files out of 70,000 odd not recoverable. Total cost was over $2500 including cost of replacement drive. Pricey but Spectrum Data's work was unquestionably very professional. For anyone thinking they need this type of work done I cannot recommend enough. |
