Perth-BRZ?

Any BRZ/GT86 owners on this forum?

Soksta 30-04-2013 11:16 AM

Edit: bog stock as well.

American Dave 30-04-2013 11:18 AM

I know a certain young Pakastani Doctor here in Perth who has an AVO turbo set up installed in his red 86. I believe Stechnic did the work but I dont believe he is a member here.

KD135 30-04-2013 11:23 AM

more inf on this please.

mao 30-04-2013 12:00 PM

We will be doing a hks super charger shortly. Will be posting up parts and options in the Evo R thread shortly.

Raz555 30-04-2013 12:05 PM

Yes - I have a 86 GTS

alex48 30-04-2013 03:22 PM

I have one coming in July. There are a few guys in Perth that have the AVO kit now. And Sprintex supercharger to be released in the coming months.

dtrally 30-04-2013 08:34 PM

Dave, don't mix up Pakistan and India, they get very upset....:p

S Technic have done two AVO turbo with front mount intercooler kits so far. One a BRZ and the other a GT-86. One owner elected to have his car fully engineered, emission tested and approved. That car also has the AVO exhaust, the AVO oil/air separator kit, Rays rims and Tein coilovers.

Maximum Motorsport have done many Ecutek tunes to each of the brand names

catcha 30-04-2013 10:07 PM

I have a white one coming Est. delivery in June

You mean the mazda3 right?

teejay 01-05-2013 10:03 AM

Its a tight comp for the winner!

alex48 01-05-2013 10:06 AM

AFAIK the guys here havent had a final tune done. AVO send out base maps for lower octane fuel than ours which is ok until custom tune. A guy over east with the AVO kit got 170kw at rears on just over 6psi.

RUSSGT 01-05-2013 10:15 AM

That would be enough to be fun!

teejay 01-05-2013 11:12 AM

Agreed - the car it should of been from factory. I reckon given how they have sold an extra 5k for a turbo factory model would of sold like mad.

American Dave 01-05-2013 11:16 AM

The AVO turbo kit is $10K including ecutek licence

MY00GC8 01-05-2013 11:33 AM

is the avo kit the only complete kit out for this at the moment?

American Dave 01-05-2013 11:46 AM

the only made for BRZ turbo kit I know of

Dan [GTI] 01-05-2013 11:56 AM
the only made for BRZ turbo kit I know of
It will be interesting to see how many kits are released from other companies. It will show how many have faith that the platform will be popular...

Bullet/Sprintex have put together a pretty awesome supercharger kit too. But I don't know if HP figures have been released

alex48 01-05-2013 12:42 PM

avo kit is $4200 with an ECUtek licence is close to $5000, not $10000

For anyone interested check out the forced induction section on FT86club.com. There are a number of production turbo and supercharger kits out at the moment like Fullblown motorsports using gt28r through to gt35r making a lot more power than AVO. AVO have the only UEL exhaust manifold atm though.

American Dave 01-05-2013 01:23 PM

ok so $5K for AVO turbo kit then the cost to install it all which I am sure Stechnic do for next to nothing, plus a good custom catback exhaust and wheels you would just get get under $10K budget. The kit I saw looked very stock and fitment was very good.

alex48 01-05-2013 01:32 PM

Realised that might have sounded a bit dickish but didnt mean it like that.

Yeah I do get the additional costs I suppose its to be expected when adding FI to a factory NA car. There is surprisingly a lot of reasonably priced parts for the brz/86 for only being out a year. Like you said though the kit looks very good and love the all black for that OEM finish.

GTB Liberty 01-05-2013 02:17 PM

Up to $10k for approx 20Kw - bargain ???

RUSSGT 01-05-2013 02:38 PM

20kw? Try 50-80 if not more.

American Dave 01-05-2013 02:41 PM

5 psi boost on stage 1 ecutek tune only made around 20 kw atw more (estimated) by Stechnic but we are talking power to weight ratios here and rear wheel drive. I predict one or two of these boost rear wheel drive cars will do some tank slapping this winter.

It was the Stechnic bum dyno that I was referring to. With such a high compression ratio they'll never be able to generate a decent increase without a piston getting a hole pinged through it.

American Dave 01-05-2013 03:03 PM

12.5:1 yikes

RUSSGT 01-05-2013 03:13 PM

Dont the make about 100ish kw atw stock? 170kw after?
With such a high compression ratio they'll never be able to generate a decent increase without a piston getting a hole pinged through it.
Some of the groups that have been playing around with the stock engine have been able to get some impressive (also worrying) numbers.
Been out of the loop for a while so I'm not too sure if any one has finally managed to pop one of these engines...

you cant compare dyno from USA to AUS, you will never get the same results

American Dave 01-05-2013 03:47 PM

Willall Racing in SA has an 86 NA that whipping a lot of the turbo charged cars in a recent hillclimb...I can see the value of an extra 20 kw atw just the same.

AVO Turbo Kit - Discuss. - Page 7

Dyno of the brz I mentioned earlier...I believe done a s&j in adelaide. 108kw baseline and 165kw after turbo kit on 6psi. Had perrin exhaust from turbo back and at that time no fuel mods. Think he has since got injectors and pump and the 8psi actuator that is part of the "stage 2" kit. I would (and hopefully will) certainly be happy with an extra 60kw from a bolt on turbo kit maybe 70 kw with the new mods.

Am quite aware of this, but there are some large gains that have been demonstrated so far.
This is all that I was pointing out.

Intra 01-05-2013 05:03 PM

Hmmm i think i might need to start burning the candle at both ends again.

Thanks people.. nice to know that the BRZ/86 are starting to become more common.
How does it go?
They go ok with the base map that AVO provide. The tune is soft, no boost. About the same as a stock WRX to drive.

I don't like the stability control, traction control and that if you left foot brake the throttle drops to zero, very unsettling mid corner.

The other thing I dislike is the stupid push button start. You can't lean in the window when working on the car to start it, the doors are too long to get into the car when it's on a hoist, the steering locks as soon as the engine stops. etc. What was wrong with a key? Give me a base spec 86 over a BRZ.

Wells97 01-05-2013 07:59 PM

I don't get why it's getting hate it's one of the nicest cars I've seen recently... But I like the Mazda 3 too so my opinion isn't valid ;)
