Hmmm - About three to four weeks. This depends on any number variables. With a prevailing wind and luck it is perfectly do-able in well under three weeks. But DON’T count on it. It could take you a lot longer. There are however numerous points along the way where you can pull out and fly home if time becomes an issue.

Costs?
The general overheads are outlined here:

http://www.mongolrally.com/modules.p...id=8name=Costs

In terms of 'spending money';

After Europe everyone will look at you a bit funny when you ask if they take cards. so while they are absolutely essential, don't expect to be able to use them much.
Switch cards don't work Mongolia. Only Visa and sometimes Mastercard which only work in Ulaan Bataar.

DON'T BRING TRAVELLERS CHEQUES, they're crap, and verging on useless where we're headed.

Basically cash is best. You can withraw money in a few places on route (verw few after Europe). As always, dollars are what people like to see. They will tend to think Pounds are toilet paper.

You will need to carry a few hundred pounds worth of dollars around with you. You can then use this as emergency money and use cards to withdraw a bit of the local stuff.

Personally, I wouldn't go more than 2. We're talking maximum of 1 litre engine capacity!

bugger that.

I would be on a cr500 with a rear sprocket the size of a golf ball and cr125 sticker kit. Would also want an awesome steering dampner.
