Well... even tho it may seem to onlookers that I know absolutely everything, there maybe a couple of small things I don't.

I was looking at the CCNA, but the price kinda scared me a little ($2100). What are your thoughts, did you get heaps out of it? Is there any dodgy way I can download the course curricular & then just sit the test (I love dodgy stuff).

Lots of theory involved I'm told. I've got most of the documentation on a disc if you want it.

Stuff the courseware Chris, just do the tests.

Buy the books yourself or you may 'find' them on 'limewire' or 'bit torrent'

have CCNA, MCSE, MCSA, Sec+, A+ blah blah.

so many people with these that they almost don't mean shit these days. better than nothing, though.
the microsoft stuff is good if you plan on admin'ing windoze domains, AD etc.

courses are super expensive - just buy the books, setup some test machines at home, then sit the $250 tests (ouch).

EDIT: fyi, like 9 exams for MCSA @ $250ea = pain. was like that years ago, anyways...

from memeory eash perth tafe have a course called electronic system engineering, which covers the unit, cisco1 -4. pretty sure you can enrol ONLY cisco 1-4

they're only like $30-$40 per unit to enrol as an australian citizen.

try that if you prefer to be teach by someone rather than self learning off a book.

That's what I was thinking. These books you speak of, are they actual CISCO books?

You might be right but it is better then saying your last qualification was passing senior English, 10 years ago.

Ahh.. I was looking at that course but it seemed very broad. If I can just do the CISCO part & sit their tests rather then tafe's that might be the go.
