Does anyone use Skype? Someone told me about it and im looking at the site and looks quite good. Most of my family is overseas and my parents make calls quite often and the bills can add up.

Is there anything i should watch out for?

I use it for chatting since my gf is at the other side of the earth.

Awesome piece of software. You can chat via typing, voice, and video conferencing. The video conferencing is awesome. Virtually close to no lag (256). MSN lags big time.

Just block or ignore those guys who add you in and your all set.

i use skype everyday. saves u a lotta money.

use skype all the time (not since ive been in europe) works great, use video confrence all the time, like said above very little lag, and the voice is crystal clear, much clearer than a land line to land line from Perth to Europe! Best of all its free!!!

i've used it for a long time. highly recommend.
you can also buy an external unit that act like a cordless phone so you won't have to sit in front of your pc everytime u want to talk to someone, it connect to your pc via usb.

Do you just need a headset or something to use it?

Any units that I can just plug into the wall (filter removed) and replace my home phone ?
Cordless would be a bonus ?

Headset with a mic attached to it and your all set.

Just remember to go to the sound device menu and select the brand of your headset because skype will use any inbuilt mic as default.

Skype is great. If you have an 'eye-toy' for the PS2, google for drivers because it's a full function web cam with built in mic =)

My bro set up a 'skype in' phone number in Perth, so that I can call it for a local call cost, and it will go thru skype to Brazil, crystal clear to his computer. Costs him about 8c a minute (can't complain).

ive always just used a normal computer microphone and computer spreakers, just a matter of adjusting the volume and placment of the microphone and you wont have any feedback
