[/QUOTE] thats the problem i am faced with... what is the right plan for me.. i know if i ring them up, they will sign me upto things i will never use. |
I have HBF. On a Smart Saver Twinpack. It includes stuff like maternity and ancillary products, but does not include things like hip replacements or cataracs, so your not paying for insurance that you'll not use at your stage in life. They have other twin packs for other stages. Might be they have one relevant to you!
It was quite simple with the twin packs Young person = Young Single Saver Twin Pack Young couple = Smart Saver Twin Pack Mature couple = 55Plus Twin Pack Glen. |
This is a waste of money! I had top cover with HBF, I broke two bones in my hand and it was cheaper to go through the health system than private!
Unless your planning on having a baby don't worry about it. |
the other alternative is to join st john ambulance (bunch of rip off's from my point of view). i think for like 27 dollars a year u are covered for ambo transport and transfers. obviously u wud hav to cover hospital expenses out of your own pocket. However most health policies cover ambo transport anyway

I tend to disagree with you Jaron. I just had a knee re-construction and saved my self about 4-5k in medical bills. Just one night in hospital at Murdoch is about $3500 for a private room. Im with MBF (went through SGIO health) also and they are great. The only thing i dont like about em as that when you have to make small claims like chiropractor and dentist etc, you have to send it away cos they have no offices in WA. I have nearly the top cover the only things that arent included is joint replacements and IVF...dont think ill be needing that...and it costs me about $70/month. My son is also covered which is one of the main reasons i got it. Also as i work for myself if i dont have health insurance the tax man charges me a medicare levy (which everyone pays) and a medicare surcharge which is about 5% of your income. oh and also the fund lets you claim for gym memberships and pilates and other natural medical stuff aswell.
