No happy ending for transplant patient


THE world's first recipient of a penis transplant has had it removed because of a 'psychological problem' that left him and his wife unable to accept the transplant.
The Chinese man had been unable to urinate normally or have sexual intercourse after injuring his penis in an accident, the report in European Urology said yesterday.

Doctors at a hospital in Guangzhou performed the surgery last year using a penis from a 22-year-old brain-dead man.

After the operation, the man was able to urinate normally from a standing position, said the report. There were also no signs of any biological rejection of the transplant, the report said.

'At Day 14 post-operatively, because of a severe psychological problem of the recipient and his wife, the transplanted penis regretfully had to be cut off,' it said.

I remember reading in the newspaper last year a guy in russia who suffered from micropenis, had it removed and placed somewhere near his shoulder and it grew from about 2 inches to about 7-8 inches. Then had it reattached in the correct position. Definitely some weird shit in medicine these days
