Default What camera to buy?

Lads/ladies i'm looking to get a 'decent' digital camera. I'm no matty poon but i'd like something with great quality i can learn with for my own pleasure in taking decent pics, nice depth, great colours and good for the ole' action shots.

Anyone with more experience in these point me in the right direction and what sort of budget is required.

thanks in advance

Jme

I'm also following interest in this as I'm about to purchase a new camera via insurance.

Canon 400D... around $1200 with a 18-55mm lens kit. They are good camera's also.

Canon 350D (or the new 400D) is the best choice IMO, since thats what I bought about 6 months ago. They are around the $1100 mark I think now. The standard kit lense you get with them is nothing special though, good enough for your everyday shots but I ended up buying a $1200 lense (70-300mm IS).

I'm a Canon man so I'll recommend their products, but Nikon (D70) is probably your other option.

Yeah, stick to either Panasonic or Cannon, they seem to have excellent build quality. try and steer clear of kodak digital cameras, ive heard they are shit and use cheapo parts. (i used to work for retravision)

My old man has a Nikon D70, bought it about 12 months ago. He's very happy with it. Very user friendly and does almost everything that a $4k + camera would do. He did a photography unit and the photos hes has been producing with it are simply amazing. AFAIK the price has come down on them considerably aswell.

I would go for the 350D/400D also.

They are great.
