Basicly looking at getting a carbon fibre bonnet and boot lid to replace the standard steel ones. I am planing on leaving them unpainted. Just wanted to know wethere they are legal to have and where you can get them from.
Thanks Nick. |

NOT Legal..
CF in the event of a crash, will shatter instead of crumple and those sharp CF peices can make a mess of pedestrians... i have seen CF bonnets with builting crumple zone where in the event of an accident will snap the under bonnet supports in certain places and allow the bonnet to fold itself nicely. Big Bucks for these one though. You might want to consider getting an WRX aluminium bonnet. Much lighter and ADR compliant. http://cars.search.ebay.com.au/alumi...R8QQsacatZ9800

actually from memory your allowed to have CF bonnet on a car built 94 and earlier. but as stated, CF doesnt bend, it shatters. or if your unlucky, the bonnet hinges will fail and a solid sheet of CF will come sliding through your window

Wasnt there a thread like this b4?
Thought they were illegal for road use as they dont have crumple zones, they shatter instead as stated above
