must've been something going on or you were in the suburbs?. cops are a rare sight here in the city, besides the anti G20 protest the other day.

Holden haven't produced a supercharged V6 for a while, and to my knowledge the Supercharged 6's have never been used in police service in WA. Unless something has very recently changed, turbo charged or super charged vehicles were prohibited from use in the service and had been for some time, well before they dropped the V8's.

Police will most certainly chase you over 140, the driver needs to have been certified for the speeds, but don't think they just give up at that magic number sir, they most certainly do not.
The 1st turbo cars used in WA were a pair of 2.6L dark blue Sigmas back in '83-84 but they were so inefficient POS's that anything other than N/A was put on the back burner for a long time. A couple of other turbo types (the Nissan EXA being one) were test driven by Traffic Branch but discounted as viable pursuit cars.

That's some time back though, last time I was reading the requirements for WA police service vehicles, there was a section that specifically forbid use of boosted vehicles. Due to maintenance cost related after the 80's turbo disasters I guess... heh

The 5-0 did use a Ford turbo vehicle back when they still used the V8 VL's - i think is was a TX5?

I remember listening to a police scan when they were chasing the "porsche kid" - the V8 boys remarked - 'you won't catch him' - the driver in the TX5 chipped in - "I will".

This is going back to the old days when they didn't abort the chases so early & they would report back on the radio speeds of 180+.

Heres a surprising one for ya's. Was driving back from freo about an hour or so ago, and the car next to me was pulled over by an unmarked SS commodore. I think it was an 04-05 model. Completely unmarked, no antennas or dash mount lights, just the old fashioned blue light on the roof. I wasn't aware the police were driving SS's. Be warned...
