i have been offered a chance to build the next evolution of the barra engine to really push the laws of physics!

a destroked 3.6lt, one of a kind pistons & alloy rods (yes alluminium) with hydraulic roller cams (non vct) repuated to handle 9+k spins and over 1000rwhp.

the typhoon is just perfect right now. Over 750rwhp in a very safe state of play with a driveline able to handle the current power and naturally all the other great aspects of the car, its arguably australia's best F6 and that's no word of lie. do i build this engine in the brother in law's typhoon or do i buy a cheap ba ute to really take advantage of a live rear axle (read solid 9" coversion).

i fear the horsepower bug has hit me very very hard but i have a conundrum as you can see.

naturally if i take this course of action, the much beloved and almost forgotten child the 'rw, will yet again be put on the back burner!

Deciding on a donor vehicle depends on what the build is gonna cost you? Do you have ballpark estimates? My mate just bought a BF XL ute to mod for $13,500 with 40,000kms, so that would be my preferred option if I were you. But then again, hi-po utes are rear happy!

I reckon you should put it in a Territory.

I know they are super heavy but it would be worth it just to turn heads.

the gravitas of 1000+rwhp is lost on subaru folk with 200hpatws!

its pure epicness!

years and years ago i would often wonder why Mario Torborack (WRX 350) (GTR 700) fame gave up on the wrx and moved to the GTR, its quite obvious to me now. wrx's are in my blood and always will be but nothing, nothing beats the thrill of a big six with a stinking great big huffer on the end of it, once you hold on for your life as endless power is at your disposal, everything else becomes obsolete.

im no shrinking violet wanna be racer what i am is a tinkeror and pusher of boundaries and this pushes all the right buttons for me!
