If it is really pissing you off, then report it to telstra. They can trace the
billing address (if not pre-paid) and pass details to police as required.

If pre-paid, and calls are really bad then police can trace if pre-paid is
paid with credit card, then bingo press charges.

If pre-paid and cash, then get to know someone in telstra, find location
of mobile (they can do this quite easily) then drop an anvil on their head.

As an alternative post the number here and encourage all members to
ring it from phone boxes whenever passing one to piss the person off.

do they pick up when you call the number?

post it here, and many forums, and see how funny they find prank calls.

Well, depends how you want to go, if you want to go the official, legit way, then reporting to the police wont get you anywhere unless direct threats to your safety are made.
If they are nuicence calls, then reporting it to Telstra is your option, the police will just direct you there. Telstra will monitor your phone, logging all calls made to your number, and then you simply tell them what time(s) the prank calls were made, and they send a warning to the person in question, if it persists, they take legal action.

So going by this, you would be much better sorting it out yourself, unless you are being threatened, and the thought of police paying the person a visit is to your liking.

I only know this because Ive been on the receiving end of very threatening calls before.
