That's why you leave it on the 1.0.2 firmware

If you leave it stock you cant use it in australia.. i nearly bought 2 the other week but backed out..I've already got heaps of Nokia 'paper weights' and i dont need more :P.... Its probably just worth waiting 'til its for sale in OZ in my opinion

Muggz,

I can show you one working on Telstra at the moment

Edit: I'm waiting for the official ones to come to Aus too. So many rumors of 16 gig 3G versions means I can wait a little while longer.

Only time I have ever had a issue with one of my ipods was when I formatted for PC...

I eventually killed one by accidently putting it down on my magnetic sat nav bracket while it was playing and it killed the HD.

as long as it is a v1.0.2 firmware u can still use the phone etc.

the new shipments of iphones have the v1.1.1 firmware thus turning the phone into a paper weight for the moment

the iPhone firmware v1.1.1 is a essentially a non-issue -- simply do not update from v1.0.2.

Australia getting a 3G version early next year is highly unlikely, if Europe didn't get it, we sure as hell won't. Jobs said himself at the London launch that a 3G chipset would cut battery life down to just a few hours.

i have an iPhone - in Perth - unlocked - on Optus - running v1.0.2, and couldn't be happier.

fuck waiting

Your nano would probably say the same about you.

My Original Ipod going strong. 3rd gen I think. 40 gig before the click wheel came out. Spent most of its time in the car or in my bag getting bashed around in mining gear.

No complaints about the BASHABILITY factor.
