The Bel RX65's really are the worst for picking up Multanovas. Have a read: http://www.radardetector.net/Escort-...54b8d613e28628

You should look for a detector with Ka narrow band setting the best protection against Multanovas, otherwise the X50 performs better than the RX65 (or Vector 995)

In saying that, I must have a freak RX65 because mine picks them up from at least 200-300m away... or is that bad range?

I also got one off ebay. Problem is that the RX65 loves to crap itself
after a while which "SERVICE REQUIRED" on the display. If you got
it off ebay then your warranty is screwed. Mine lasted about 18 months.

There is a fine line however...
* Buy it here for $650+, and perhaps get a 2 year warranty.
* or buy 2 off ebay for $300 each, and if they last a year each then
you are $50 in front.

Buying off ebay is a gamble, and often it will pay off. If you do go
down this path and it craps itself after 2 months then don't complain,
take it on the chin and order another.

No point in buying a STi unless you're worried about them being banned here in the future. For the same money as a STi you can buy a Valentine One and they kick arse on Multanova range, as well as having the best optics for picking up off-axis laser scatter. The problem with the RX65 and STi is when the cameras are facing backwards. The warning time is terrible. I tested a STi last Thursday and coming at the camera when it was facing away, it only gave 2 or 3 seconds warning before you were level with it. It all depends on the set-up at the time (what power setting the camera is on, reflections etc)

For WA the order of best to worst is Valentine One, Bel 990, X50, Sti, RX65, Vector 995
