Default Insurance companies which will insure laptops

Does anybody know of any insurance companies that will insure a laptop?

RAC, SGIO etc.. Don't insure them unless you have a contents policy with them over $25K As all my crap is in storage, and covered under the storage Insurance policy there is no point in doing it this way. Also they will only insure it in the Commonwealth of Australia. As I am doing a bit of international travel at the moment I need a policy that will cover me for this.

Anybody know of such a company?

Both mine and my partners are done on contents policy. She takes care of that 1 cos most the stuff in the house is hers ( Oh for a skip bin and a couple of days without her ) Pretty sure each was about $6 a month and that is anywhere. Also have $3000 of personal items for stuff you have with you when out and about ( Ipods, organisers that sort of stuff).

We are through National/Allianz but figure most of them offer similar cover.

This may be a bit late for you Dan682, but if you buy a laptop from Dell you can include 1 or2 years of international insurance cover.

Hey dan
Most companies should allow laptops to be inluded on an existing contents policy. As standard it should be covered in the house under general contents. However if you need aditional cover you can add the laptop as a specified portable valuable. That is, it is covered inside and outside the home.
I work for SGIO and i know we do it for sure.

According to the SGIO rep they only cover it in Australia.
Also I don't have a contents policy as it is included in the storage where I have all of my furniture and stuff.

Try GIO. I have my laptop insured as a single item as i carry it around for work. The insurance is called product insurance and costs me about $40/month.
