ON A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT TOPIC:
Just been looking at my mate car (has Motec) and the pressure exchange solenoid has been bypassed, the pipe runs straight to the map sensor. Am I correct in saying that the only reason this is used is to compensate for changes in atmospheric pressure and isn't really needed in Perth as there are no hills???? Just curious as to why bypass it? SC :) :) TER |
Yes i think that you are right, it just senses the altitude, well, the solonoid switches between boost pressure and atmospheric pressure, then the pressure sensor reads it, but still i would leave it in because if you did ever go to a area that is really far above sea level, you would experience a power loss compared to at sea level

the motec has an onboard barometric pressure sensor
the engine efficency on the fuel map is determined by (MAP/BAP)*100=EFFICENCY and LOAD disposes of any need for an 'altitude' sensor as air pressure is directly compensated for within the tune. |
