Default ECU guru's

OK been doing a little research I had car in at ASG for a clean up tune, I'm running an OLD link ecu which is pretty primitive, 209kw with a safe tune as it's a track only car, 97 GC8, forged 2L, VF22, Sean did say a better ecu would gain a little more. I have narrowed it down to Autronic & Motec, now if I use a standalone I would have to have it wired in but I could take it to my next car ? could a patch loom be made up so the old link could just be slotted back in when sale time comes ? also if standalone is the way to go SM4 or M800 ?

m800 if you want to do it properly.

it will cost more, but you can use the same ECU in -any- car for the future.

motec can have an adaptor loom made up without chopping the factory wires.

with quality wiring and pins expect to pay >2500$ for a custom harness and about the same if you intend to run a replacement dash

OK what then is the best option, buy a PNP autronic and sell it on or take the hit on a patch loom and go M800 ?

an adaptor loom from motec or a local workshop would be the best option in the long run.

Save the $2500 or whatever the MOTEC adaptor loom will cost you and get either the Autronic SM4 with the Knockboard or the new ViPEC ECU.

Both very good ECU's
http://www.vi-pec.com/page_files/pluginecu.htm

Autronic SM4 with the new Knockboard will give you very good results in the hands of the right tuner.

OK revisiting this as my car is running super rich with the prehistoric LINK, short list is:

Autronic SM4 or LINK G4

Now am I better to buy plug n play and try an offload later or cop the expense of a wire in ? emailed Autronic with no reply will email LINK too.

A little off topic but how did you find ASG as a workshop. My car is with them at the moment, first time I have had work done by them.
