Hey i've decided to ditch da digital camera and get digi SLR.
Was tossing up between either the Nikon D40 or Pentax K100D,
i've read many reviews and they all seem to be pretty good beginner/amatuer camera's.

Any thoughts?

I've waiting for a Nikon D80 with full kit to arrive ex eBay, can't flamin' wait!!!

Did a fair bit of reviewing before taking the plunge, personal opinion only, my top choice would be between the Nikon & Canon. Unless the Pentax has more features for the same money, go the Nikon.

If ya lookin at the D40 and budget won't allow for anything bigger, at least check out the D40X, got a few improvements over the D40 such as 10.2mp and may be worth paying the few $$$ extra for the upgrade.

I recently did the dslr upgrade.
I was deciding between the Nikon D40 & the Canon 30d.
I ended up with the slightly dearer ( but much easier to use IMO ) Canon 30d.

Check out www.dpreview.com - I found this site to be the best for comparo's and real world user info. Prices are obviously in US dollars.
