canon or nikon???
ok so im looking at buying the nikon D90,
i want to start geting back into some form of photography, im not up to date with the latest and gratest, and am fairly green when it comes to taking a decent foto. i would like to know what model canon is on the same level as the D90, and which would be the better option to learn with. cheers

D90 is roughly equal to the 40D (50d, or whater the model is) I'm fairly sure...both have their pros and cons though...
Can't speak for canon, but D90 does hidef movies, where you can adjust the aperture, etc while filming...if that's appealing to you... Both are good cams from what I can tell! I run a D80, and that is good enough for most things. Work out your budget first and get the best lens you can afford...then get the best cam you can afford! Striking a reasonable balance between the two is important!!!

not important its what's behind the camera :P Id probably go for which ever's ergonomics suits you better. There are also a lot of other brands of camera out there.

If you decide to go with Canon, I now have a spare kit that I'm willing to part with. Canon 30D + battery grip + early kit lens (18-55mm f3.5-5.6)
The money you save instead of buying new could be put towards better glass/accessories. If you do decide to go new (Canon), I'd look at the 40D over the 50D. They are so cheap now. In regards to why choose one brand over another - basically whatever camera body feels best in YOUR hands, and whichever software/operation works best for YOU
