If you love music , you will love Djing, best way these days is going with cd decks ( pioneer all the way) get yourself Ableton Live later on and do some remixes/edits and produce your own music burn on to cd then put it in your set.

PS still love vinyls nothings beats them.

dont buy cd decks first. the best foundations to learn on is shit direct drive turntables. they wont cost you much and will get you through the first 12 months. by that time you will know if you are interested. getting good on shit decks will make you a very tight dj when you get technics later on. the reason why i say dont get cdjs is, people that begin on vinyl can mix cds. it rarely goes the other way.

i have recently got serato scratch (do a search on the net) and its made mixing easier. i have seen them in the quokka for $500 second hand.

i have my first decks for sale. they are not in good condition, but they are something to learn on. $300

you can pick up a cheap mixer second hand, probably $200

$1000 and you can play all of your music on vinyl

i can swing you some drum and bass records if you are into mixing dnb as well

While I agree that vinyl is great to learn on, I myself have had a nifty set of Stanton decks for some time, however, for someone getting into it now, they may as well go the cdj option as the cost involved of getting vinyl is a lot greater, and while cdjs are more expensive, getting tracks is nothing. Getting vinyl can sometimes be more difficult (for crazy dutch hardcore fanatics like myself, getting stock sent in from Holland, and having no idea when or if it will arrive). But each to their own, have a play on both, see which you prefer.

well well i just picked up a couple of pioneer CDJ 400's... seem like an alright player from the review/videos on the net.

anyones thoughs on them?

tho not using cdj's... i believe these are alright to learn on and from...
the 800's i beleive had the vinyl simulation thing... and more digital stuff i think.. but thats about it...

yer i got a 2nd hand Behringer DJX400. i picked it up for 80bucks so it will do for now. i blew all the cash on 2 new cdjs

I totally agree with this i taught myself bout 15yrs ago, i love vinyl theres something about it, bought a set of pioneer CDJ's hated them went back to vinyl again... had technics 1200's an 1210's, vestax, and now i have a pair of Numark tt550's an a vestax pmc-05 samurai scratch mixer, lovin it great x fader i remember my first pair didnt match one was an sl1200 an the other was a shitty belt drive thing that lost pitch all the time hahaha those were the dayz! speeding it up with ur finger hahaha

whats the verdict serato ayone used it? i saw adrenalin sellin his a while back ....
