Default DSLR Wireless Remote

Done a net search for a decent RF wireless remote, surprised to find that Nikon themselves don't make one? Yet, all the D series have the port for it!

Reviews hail the Phottix as being pretty good, so went for this one off eBay. Yet to arrive.

The transmission range is claimed to be 100M+... would be keen to hear from anyone on here who has used them... are they as good as the claims make them out to be?

On a relevant note, I have for give-away 1 x Universal camera IR remote. Suits all Nikon, Canon, Pentax & Olympus DSLRs and Canon SLRs which have an IR port. The range is about 15M and is line of sight to front of camera only. Needs battery (3V CR2025). 1st to PM me an address gets it

EDIT: Remote has been grabbed by Joe (BALISTC)

Thanks Wayne, looking forward to it....at our family reunion on the weekend, I had to resort to setting the timer and running in to the group shot before the camera took the photo.

I won't have to worry about that at our next one

Arrived today. One word: Brilliant!!!

Does every it's supposed to do... only drawback I could see is that the flash can't be used if the receiver is in the hot-shoe mount, coz it prevents the flash from fully popping up. Since the receiver is light, I just allowed it to hang by its cable, no probs.

Oh, one other thing I found - you DON'T set the camera to the Remote On position as you do with an IR remote; just leave it in the normal Take position.

If anyone is contemplating getting one of these, I would recommend getting the top of the range Plato model; it's only a few bucks more than the Cleons and there's no guesswork as to whether you are in RF range or not because of the two way communication between remote & receiver and 2 green LEDs telling you that you're right to go

NOW.. to have some fun with the DSLR on a low tripod mount next to my letterbox for some "Multanova" action

lol, whatever floats your boat!

I want to use it to trap in focus, just focus on a point (like a bird nest), lock the shutter down, and the camera takes photos when the bird comes without you having to wait around
