Default Reliable PVR?

My bloody Topfield 7000HDPVrt has come up with the dreaded stuck on "RUN" hang up and as far as I can tell there is no easy fix for it. To be honest this has been one of the most problematic pieces of electronic kit I have ever had and as a result think its time to bite the bullet and buy a replacement.

What is the latest thing to buy which is reliable? TIVO, Beyondwiz??
Cheers Al

Love TIVO Al

Have 1.160TB full of crap but it is great.

Thumbs up and down for shows you watch and it suggests similar ones you like, networks to computer, set to record from your mobile or pc if you miss a show.

Can even download songs and movies for a fee - but I cant keep up with the free TV stuff.

Yip last Topfield I buy, great when it was working but forever do factory resets or reloading firmware.

Spoty is TIVO wireless for internet connectivity as not practical for running cable...

What model have you got and how muchy, need to get one for the missus before I fly back to China.... she will go nuts without it

Looks like Tivo does not have an instant skip forward button of 30 secs? this was awesome for ads, 4 pushes and back to TV....?

dont know about model - bought it 2 years ago

ads can be skipped but it is more like fast forward (3 speeds)

bought for $600 or so plus the 1 TB which was maybe $2-300

I had the dreaded stuck on "Run" on my 7100. Swapped out the HDD for a 500Gb and havent had an issue since.

Might be worth a go if you have a spare one lying around.

I have a OLD P4 2 Ghz with 4 TV cards setup with web scheduler software (free) and a 1 Tb HD. Works great and cost next to nothing.
