Some nice pics there, Stace. Some of those look like they were taken early in the morning. Nice and cold for you?
I like the second one because it looks like the two blokes by the river could sit there all day and not say a word, but having a good time. Best friends.

My boss is actually competing in the kayaking part of the event. He's done it the last 3-4 years and says it will be downright scary this year with the water level so low, all the rocks about.

Hope he comes in to work tomorrow! I have dibs on his office if he doesn't

Default Record time!!!

I also hear that the fastest paddler was 3 hours slower than the record time. Must have been a bastard of a day for them.
In the power boats, there was 40 starters, but only 2 finishers.

^^^^ Yep. Was a debacle. I think about 30 power boats got away from Northam. About 16 at a rough count made it to day 1 finish. About 3 of them didnt start day 2. Of the approx 13 day 2 starters 2 made it to Bells before the cutoff time, 2 others made it outside of the cutoff time but I think still went on and did get to the finish line but were disqualified. Havent quite had that clarified. Muppet organisers started them too late (midday) given the water level. Personally if I had dragged my boat down the valley and it was still daylight, I woudl be pushing for the finish despite what any official had to say about it. Its basically a flat water sprint from Bells onwards and a great reward for the brutal run down the valley they had.

Definately the toughest Avon to date. Will hurt the numbers for next year for sure.

Both days of paddling woudl have sucked arse. Day one is too shallow for much of it to dip a paddle in. Day 2 might have bene easier in some regards given there is actually enough water to paddle in down the pools, but no flow to assist. Rapids were a get out and carry affair. Not much fun being had out there this year.
