I don't see the need of compensation, as this charlie guy didn't get any profit out of it. If only his facebook friends saw the photos, then it's not like David has lost money. Sure it's wrong what he did, but unless he actually sold the photos as his own, I don't see the need for lawyers to get involved. The photos should be deleted, a note put up on the page crediting the photos to the actual owner, make a formal apology, hang your head in shame, and learn from your mistake.

Young people do stupid things. It didn't hurt anyone and didn't cost anyone anything. He should now realise that people don't take this shit too lightly.

Someone correct me if I am wrong though, that's just my opinion

you're correct in saying that if Charlie has never gained any financial rewards from copying someone else's photos....no compensation will be rewarded by court. This is especially true if Charlie has not sold a single photo...ever/made no profit and therefore has not taken any possible work away from David

i'm not defending charlie here but has he ever sold a single photo (made even a $1 from photography?) hence it'd be hard for david to get any financial compensation if he went to court....that's all.

I am with you here, i didn't know who David Reid was prior to this and having seen the photos (not bad BTW) i would nsay he is a good photographer, but at the same time having seen what he wrote on facebook i would also now call him very imature (there are ways to deal with things but i think he went over the top!)

Would i have gone off like that? maybe..... would i regret it later? 100%

Let it go and move on, lesson learned about protecting your IP!
