I did nothing. Turns out that you cant charge them off a computer as it drains the battery faster than is charges it up. Stick to an iphone or wall charger.

Also another shit thing is that the remote is only good to 3m in water. Kinda sucks because i wanted to strap it to my wrist when i go snorkelling and shit to control my camera.

Why the need for the remote if it's strapped to your wrist? I take mine diving, much deeper than 3m and either have it bolted to the front of my helmet or on a head strap. Press record and then jump in.
