I have an xbox a few months old, but hardly used, (hasnt even gone through the first set of batteries.)

I modified it to play NTSC/PAL/Downloaded/Backup games [iExtreme] and it has done it without a hitch, the drive inside the console is the new LiteOn, and was unhackable for quite some time and as such, its quite hard for Microsoft to detect the modification providing your disks are burnt correctly.

This console has not been banned from Xbox Live and can be registered with live points from another account. Its a HDMI model too.
