High Quality Car Dash Cams - Group Buy?

Hi Perth WRX members,

Radars Direct are now an authorised distributor of Itronics Car Dash Cameras. After testing between Blackvue and Itronics - we have decided to choose the best brand for image quality and reliability.

The most popular model is the Itronics ITB100HD - this unit has exceptional video quality (Full HD 1920x1080) and comes with a 16Gb Sd card. You can upgrade this to a 32gb sd card for longer recording times.

The great thing about Itronics, is that depending on how you set it up, it will activate on motion sensing, i.e when you leave your car parked up if someone walks up to it, it will record for that brief moment.

Another great feature is the ability to erase the SD card at the push of a button! You don't need to remove the card, plug it in to your PC and then erase it if you have not captured any video worth keeping. However if you do forget to use the erase feature - not to worry! The ITB100HD will overwrite the oldest data to make room for fresh recording! Too easy?

Oops! I nearly forgot the Built-In GPS chip which records your speed constantly and pin points your location on google maps. You will have on record, the speed, location & time of an incident if any occurs. As well as the HD footage!

So as a 2nd eye witness in your car - I would highly recommend the Itronics Dash camera range & as a result are now stocking them. Why buy locally? Local Warranty, English Firmware & Support as well as pickup available.

So, Is Perth WRX interested in a group buy for this great product?

For 10+ Units I can afford to do $315ea inc GST
ITB100HD

Please don't compare eBay as you are getting a different product. If you are not needing a very high quality image you can look at the lower models of the Itronics range which still offer great resolutions at a very affordable price!

The ITB70G
ITB70G

This will actually provide very good video quality & has a built-in GPS as well.
Supports up to 16GB, not 32GB

Can do the ITB70G for $225.00 inc GST (10+)

**Update

There is also a 2 Channel System available called the ITB80G. This uses the same camera quality as the ITB70G but also has an additional unit that can record the rear vision for the car.
The unit supports up to 16GB SD cards.
More Information can be seen here: ITB80G

Price for the ITB80G is $315.00 inc GST.

I am also offering that we only need 10 Buyers and you can choose which model you want to get at the given prices.
If you want to take part in the group buy post your name and the model in which you would like to get.

As previously stated - the Itronics range are known to be very easy to use and very reliable with the recording quality & heat handling abilities.

Below a screenshot from the ITB80G user software.

Please note that eBay models of Itronics from Korea are quite often only re-furbished models sold by UN-authorised dealers - they are also KOREAN firmware built and language. They also come with NO backup support & NO local warranty.

Mate I don't doubt your product but personally I need a better sales pitch....... I'm seeing multiple for $100 odd with similar features online.

I can sales pitch this item as much as you like but quite frankly, those cheap video recorders do not offer the HD image from the Itronics.

This is the top of the range model, there is always the possibility of selling the cheaper ones.

With poor quality dash cams, after being left in the sun on hot days you get jumps in the recording, many stop working after a few months as well as the poor video recording & no gps.

Steve you for one should know about quality and price. The V1 is not as cheap as a Whistler? But it says they do the same thing?? Im a little surprised to hear this.

YES I was waiting for the link!
They are not backed up by warranty & also use Korean firmware. They are also not authorised dealers of Itronics and will not bother to contact you for support after the sale is done. They work on extremely small margins and my cost is no where near that price.

steve-lang 02-10-2012 10:14 PM

Totally hearing you but in comparison there is no cheap valentines on the net, your price is close if not the best. In this case I did bugger all research and found it for $175, possibly fake possibly not, just need more info/spec as i currently run a ebay spec dash cam and am curious to differences.

Again not doubting product.

Reaper 02-10-2012 10:15 PM

This link will provide you with information and specs until I can update the site properly.

The Korean ones on Ebay are usually re-furbished sold as new, not the latest software and definitely not English - those listings drop off all the time and re-appear..then drop off again. He will be gone in a week.

No & Why

row011 02-10-2012 11:03 PM

Ok,

So I have realised that the 100ITB being a FULL HD camera may not be everyone's choice.

However there is a solution:

The ITB70G
ITB70G

This will actually provide very good video quality & has a built-in GPS as well.

How quickly do they fill up?
The bullet is like a gb every 5minitues in 1080p
And is your postion/speed etc recorded along the bottom of the video itself?

Dinhgy 03-10-2012 08:59 AM

16gb sd card will get you 7 hours so 2.3gb an hour
How quickly do they fill up?

With 16gb:
7hrs on FULL HD and 14 hrs on Normal HD (720p) depending on what setttings you put it on.

When it fills up after 7 hrs of recording (essentially 7 hrs of driving) it will overwrite the oldest data on the SD card. OR you press the delete button which formats the SD card for you.
If you need to extract any video you remove the card and plug it into your computer (it comes with an SD card reader) and you use the software program to view and save any video you need.

** yes your speed is recorded on the video footage itself.

Cheers

Kato 03-10-2012 10:23 AM

Any dual camera options?

And when you say the speed is recorded on the video, is that hard encoded? i.e. if you were handing over footage and you didn't want your speed shown, is that possible?

There is a Dual System (Front & rear) model being released in November (near end), the system is $500 though but uses 720P front & rear that goes back to a main control unit. Hardwiring is needed.

I will check that about the speed, Im assuming you would want to know if you can remove if possible to protect your own innocence if you were speeding?
***Update
You can set it to either KPH ON or OFF - so yes you can choose whether or not to display the speed.

Cheers!

Hi Dinhgy

Which model were you interested in and can I put you name down for the group buy? As a all round best performer I would go with the ITB100HD. These are not cheap devices which will have jumpy video recordings or stop working after being in the Sun for 6 months.

Cheers,

Have just update the original post with some more details!

I hope we see some more interest as there is always a need for a video dash cam on Perth roads..especially with the type of drivers we have. These are a very affordable 2nd eye witness for your car.

steve-lang 04-10-2012 05:27 PM

Rowan continuing from what Kato asked. Hypothetical question time...
Day to day driving I have KPH set to on.... Its Friday night and Huggy B pulls along side me with his pink rims on Roe. Instant runs initiated obviously. He stuffs up and slams into me clearly he's at fault but argues; am i able to remove speed from footage before handing over to police/insurance?

I understand the concern here..if that was the case then You can but not with the software that comes with the camera. You'd need to use a video editing program like premiere to either crop it out (also losing time and date) or put some image over it hiding it.

Thats if you have speed set to on - and if ever needed is a possibility.

I dont really understand the point of the post - this thread is for people interested in a car dash cam system.

thommo 05-10-2012 03:43 PM

I'm interested, but after the same sort of thing as Kato, could the single unit have a rear camera added to it later or is this not possible.

row011 05-10-2012 05:34 PM
I'm interested, but after the same sort of thing as Kato, could the single unit have a rear camera added to it later or is this not possible.
Hi thommo,

Yes there is a Model that provides Front and Rear called the ITB80G. This is the same price as the single Full HD model as it does use lower quality video recording - but still has integrated GPS which is a really useful feature.

You cannot add an additional camera (to a single camera model) on the ITB100HD unit for example as it is a unit by itself. And is designed to cover one view.

There is a model being released at the end of November called a ITB500 which will use HD quality imaging front & rear. These will cost around $500 though. And for only $315 for the front & rear ITB80G it is very good money for value.

row011 10-10-2012 08:36 PM

Looking for more interest!

Im surprised there hasn't been much interest from the Perth WRX community.

Does anyone have any questions regarding these? Happy to answer.

thommo 10-10-2012 11:55 PM

Sorry I didn't respond I'm on holidays at the moment and only jump on the forum when possible. I will leave it for now while I'm away and look in to it further when I get home, if something changes I will pm you directly and let you know.

Cheers for your pm though.

Does the ITB70G also display speed?

row011 11-10-2012 09:06 PM
Does the ITB70G also display speed?
Yes it has GPS and also shows the speed. There are options to stop the speed from being shown on both the 100ITB and 70G.
Yes it has GPS and also shows the speed. There are options to stop the speed from being shown on both the 100ITB and 70G.
So you can see the speed when the video is exported for evidence purposes?
So you can see the speed when the video is exported for evidence purposes?
Sorry let me clarify this.

No.

The ITB100 will hardcode the speed on the video file if you choose it to.

The ITB70G will show the speed on the PC application - but will not hardcode it onto the video files that you export.

For only a little bit more I would recommend the ITB100 as it produces a better image & has this feature.

Hi Rowan, do you have actual sample screenshots from both the ITB100 and ITB70G?
