I'm selling a 5 speed Aussie gearbox it's a MY99/00 it has a 3.9 ratio front diff to suit a 3.54 rear diff Box is in great working condition.

This box will directly fit MY99,MY00 and MY01 WRX. It will also fit 89-98 WRX and RS Liberty with a lower starter motor bolt modification and is a slight upgrade.

Photo shows 3.9 written on the box so are you sure it's a 4.11 front diff? Best bet is to also post a photo of the gearbox code sticker (above the starter motor hole.) That way prospective buyers can cross check if it will suit their purpose first.

Yeah 3.9 has been written down but we doubke checked it the manual way and it's a 4.11. The sticker on the side of the box has fallen off so I double checked and made sure it was right.

I'd suggest you double check your calculation. MY99/00 WRX never had 4.11's in any version I've ever seen. Aus or JDM.

4.11 8 bolt turbo boxes are quite rare, some MY02 WRX Wagons and some twin Turbo Liberty only as far as I know.

Ok how else do I find our wat type of box it is?

Roll it on it's side, remove the drain plug. Mark one crownwheel tooth with a paint marker and turn the crownwheel one full turn counting the teeth. Post up the number and I'll tell you what it is.

Ok Doug I did what you said and I counted 39 teeth

That confirms a 3.9 to 1 front crown and pinion. Aussie delivered WRX's were only ever offered in that ratio with 1.1 to 1 drop gears. Hence it uses a 3.54 rear ratio.

Hence what is written on the top of the box is accurate (assuming some dope hasn't changed the drop gears)

Btw, this won't fit foresters
They are 4.44 unless you swap their rear diff to suit

Why did you say 4.11

Ok thanks for that Doug is there many car this box will fit? I know that it was open but nothing got changed just checked over.
