Different brand tyres with the same indicated...

Different brand tyres with the same indicated width will be different in actual width... eg 235 RE55 has a 241 tread width, Dunlop 235 DZ03 is 236 tread width...etc...so best to check each...

FYI: 02 - 04 STI: 17 x 7.5 100 PCD will take 225 & 235
05 - 07 STI: 17 x 8 114.3 PCD will take 225 to 245
...

The standard tyre on 05-07 STI (17 x 8 rim) is actually 225.
A 235 will be fine. Do not use a 215.
Most people who run R-Spec tyres use 235/45 on std 05-07 rims. Some even run 245/40.
