Default Evolution of the WRX

Found a nice and simple little article that talks about the progression of the WRX over the years. Thought some people might appreciate it

Some interesting reading.. Someone should have proof read it a bit better..There was a few errors, especially in the first part.. eg, WRX stands for World Rally Edition ??? What the.. I always thought it was World Rally Experimental.. also vf 34 is a turbo...not an intercooler ..enjoyed it never the less. Didn't know the older versions eg 94,95 etc had TD05 turbos..then went down to TD04s for quicker response in later years.. Thanks. Cheers..

About "WRX", WR obviously stands for "World Rally", and "X" stands for the
mathematical symbol for the unknown, that means its possibility is infinite.

That was the answer given by someone in Subaru marketing.

Yeh it's not completely accurate in some instances but overall I thought it was a very good read. It does give an answer to the good ol question: can you reflash a gc8 stock ecu: Which they say you can't do it to all pre97 models. I found that quite inspiring haha

Maybe they made the 'x' have an open meaning as a clever marketing ploy so that people could attach their own meanings to it, therefore personalising themselves to their products. It's all X files in here

Quoting from part one the article:
Quote:
The MY00 model saw colour coded side skirts, mirrors and door handles, and revised six spoke 16 inch wheels to differentiate it from the MY99.
Is this correct? Pretty sure colour coded side skirts were not a factory option with the MY00 WRX and Club Spec Evo 4. The Version 6 STI is a different story, but the bog standard MY00 WRX/CSE4 had charcoal side skirts and rear spats.

No. My WRX doesnt have color coded side skirts, yet it is a June 2000 built MY00.

And yes, you can Ecutek flash the GC8 ecu, but no one in perth does it. MRT used to come and visit MMS a couple of times a year to do some. Dont know if they still do or not.
