Default Need a region free player?

I'm not sure if there are many home theatre/movie buffs here but just a hot tip for anyone interested in a cheap region free player - unheard of Australia unless you fork out huge dollars for an Oppo, or a few hundred on hardware hacks by some places over east.

Step 1) Purchase this Toshiba Blu-Ray player for $149

Step 2) Go to this website and download the linked firmware

Step 3) Load the firmware onto your machine, use the code stated on the website which will bring up a sub-menu which gives you the option to change the region settings for both DVD and Blu-Ray

The player actually came with this firmware on the disc when it was first released, but Toshiba apparently got a tap on the shoulder from movie distributors and they have since opened every box, taken out the firmware disc and code, and put a cheap HDMI cable in the box instead.

I've just done the firmware upgrade and it works a charm.

Some DVD players only require a few buttons pressed and a code entered to change region or make region free.
Worth checking into before purchasing a dvd player.

I challenge you to find an Australian BluRay player other than the Toshiba posted above that can be made region free without an expensive hardware hack.

Region free bluray? o_0

Excellent, I didn't know any machine that could do that (for a non-crack price).
