Dyno time dosent just happen in one session..You could spend 1000s on getting the tune perfect, just a matter if u want to go that way or not...

injector size is also an issue.. i was running 1265 cc injectors and it was very hard to tune.. ive gone to an 8 injector setup now (4 injectors kick in at high hp). Decapped wrx injectors should hopefully idle alot better.

Otherwise, learn about how to use the motec... then u could change the parameters of idle etc.. This has nothing to do with the power chart so u couldnt go blowing up anything...

+1

those who tune motec will admit that with certain combos it may take a very long time to iron out the bugs (i've been told of 12months + on some rexes) if you got the time (money) and patience stick with it. also 400hp at the wheels is good enough for a race wrx and race-tuned engines arent known for their manners. all the best with it

more closed loop input and you can sort out the problems sooner.

Until last week I still had the M800 tune that AJ, ex Speed Works, did in Jan 2006. It has the same symptoms that you mention but otherwise it's was a pretty sweet tune. This idle issue was software related and very difficult to tune around however it was repordedly fixed in subsequent software versions that came out post Jan 2006?

I just had my M800 software upgraded this week, pending my new engine fitment. Some 675cc Deatchwerks injectors now reside on top of a "few" other mods. AJ's original tune has been temporarily dropped back over the new version and hopefully this will be ignited next week. For now I am like an expectant father pending start up, run in tune, final tune etc. Will advise what the idle is like when known.
Btw your pipes port and polished up a treat, many thanks!

Haha So basicly what I read was - Motec = spend money, spend money, spend money ohhhhh and spend more money on tune.

Then spends more money on tune.

Get the Verso.

If it is a weekend cruiser, you don't race it and you don't have any absurd mods go a Verso.
this sums it up pretty well I think

Reality check...Can Verso look after my MY99, and if they could, who could help me with a retune, btw I now live in Canberra?

No on both questions.

Ok, so for the flexibility of having a wider range of Tuners, in different locations, a Verso reflash over a universally programmable Motec is a lost argument.

Before 30+ Verso keyboard warriors bother to reply, I am sure the Verso can be a good bit of gear if Sean has a good day on the dyno But for me, they can not program an MY99, let alone in Canberra. I just checked the Verso site and they still do not list the 99 as an option BTW is Sean the only Tuner at ASG? If so then add that to the Verso tune risk register.

My new Canberra Tuner has installed many custom features in the M800 like gear dependent boost tables, anti knock, temp. dependent boost, hi and low boost tables etc built into my tune. I am comfortable with why I chose Motec after having tried Unichip and Autronics whilst unable to buy a Verso tune. If your not into motorsports, have a model currently supported by Verso, plan on living in Perth forever and your happy to go to ASG exclusively for your tuning then therein lies the OP's answer.

Then again, what's the resale of a your Verso tune should you wish to sell up and go back to standard? My old Unichip scored higher on that point
