I have one....

Early WRX and Liberty boxes are different to 99 and would be a substantial downgrade.

If you can do the work yourself you will save a small amount of money. Dont f%#k around.

Buy the one of dt rally then bugger around with yours. If you can fix it then you can sell it for around the same as what you paid for the reco one.

Just did mine. Cost $900 in parts as some bits are superseeded and you need to buy extra stuff to suit.

You also need a hydraulic press, some special tools (50mm socket etc) and a lot of patience!!!

I would just buy a second hand one from DT Rally. He knows his shit when it comes to gearboxes....

Pull your 'box out and take it in to TAFE as a project. More relevant than the Holden 3 speeds they get you to do there. They've all been apart a million times and half the bits are missing. That'll test your lecturer's knowledge.

Just dont let other future block heads touch it, and keep it well stored away. Chances are bits of it will go missing again, as after all it is tafe. It would actually be a really good lesson on how gearboxes work.
