hey guys i unfortunately got a yellow last nite by 3 highway cops who even put the sticker on sudeways on my windscreen! the major thing i need help with is my wheels. ive got a 2000 GC8 and i got done for lowering

does anyone have any 18" rims with good tyres i could borrow for a day just to raise my car n get over pits?

would be awesome if anyone could lend us a hand as im pretty stressed cos the guy only gave me 7 days aswell, and with uni and work kind of sucks!!!

cheers guys :)

How will 18" rims help?

Robbay 08-03-2009 11:47 AM

wont it raise it a bit? ive got the my02 rims on atm with low pro tyres, thinkin 18's or rims with bigger tyre's may raise it a bit

Technically it works out a little higher because of the added inch but the profile of the tyre will reduce it. So you may gain like 50mm maybe.

The overall diameter is about the same... To raise it the 1 or so inches, the tyres would need to be 1 inch bigger all round. Sure it will increase the right height, but you will look like one of those monster trucks and will not pass coz the wheels overall diameter is too big.

Get the stock suspension put back in. Someone here may lend you the springs.

Buy coilovers so you can wind them up or down. Not cheap, but its already saved me once.

I thought coilovers were illegal???? or can you get a permit for them??

Cheers,

Wouldnt have thought changing the rim size will help. As the rim size gets larger the profile size of the tyre gets smaller, so that if you change the rims the overall circumference of the wheels and tyres is the same. You will most likely need to change the springs to get it above the legal ride height.
