i'd do it, and put a proper ecu in it.

N/A compression ratio, td04 conversion- it would go like a cut snake, maybe for about 10,000km's or so.

anyhow, these 2litre NA motors are cheap second hand, why not.

Least it's something different. Not sure about legalities and insurance though.

Put your EJ20 (with loom and ECU) up forsale on Ausubaru.com forum. Someone with an L series or Brumby type of car would love to buy it to do a conversion. It's a great upgrade over the standard motors in those cars.
You'd probably fetch around 500 bucks or maybe a little more if it's very low kms.

If you put a wrx motor in your car you will also need.
: Stronger than the na gearbox
: fueling
: ecu
: etc. Alot of work when stock wrxs are pretty cheap these days. Older ones anyway.

naturally you'd want to purchase a frontcut that includes the gearbox.

yep, really no logical reason to install a turbo on a non-turbo, esp when you can grab a second hand rex for cheap... you can even get bugeyes for as low as 15-16 grand stock these days...

The only reason you would try it is if you were looking to re-body a JDM RA or some thing similar.
JWS quoted me $4k drive in-drive out for a V4 STI engine into my WRX.
They can supply a full STI donor car and convert the whole thing.
They had a 99 2 door last week for under $10k. From my conversation I would think around $4k in labour to convert it and drive away.
For that coin you can buy a WRX, there have been a few in the for sale section lately at very reasonable prices.
Mine cost me $12k with 130KM's on the clock and a 3 year 3rd party warranty from a dealer.
$5k on top of mine and you can pick up a clean bug eye.
Insurance will be far easier to get in an aussie car as well.
